The Rules

 

To take part in the contest, you need to read the following rules and follow them as best as you can!

Reservation and Submission

  • Participation in YOV is based on two steps, country reservation and song submission like in other contests. 
  • Reservation is done via email to yovcontest@gmail.com or by Facebook message to the manager. In this reservation you will send the song that will represent the country that you have reserved.
  • Every player keeps their countries as long as they want to.
  • If a player reserve a country, they have to keep that country for at least 3 editions. 

 

Country

  • You can choose any country  in the world. 
  • If you're playing with a small country, you can borrow artist from another countries:
    • - Andorra can borrow from Spain
    • - Cyprus can borrow form Greece 
    • - Faroe Islands can borrow from Denmark
    • - Liechtenstein can borrow from Germany
    • -  Luxembourg can borrow from France
    • - Monaco can borrow from France
    • - Moldova can borrow from Romania
    • - San Marino can borrow from Italy

Artist

  • To be eligible to represent a country in YOV, an artist must either:  
    • Have lived in their country for at least 10 years.
    • Have some sort of significant connection to that country (such as competing in Eurovision or a national final in that country). If the artist have parents from this country, the artist could represent his or her motherland.
    • In the case of bands, a majority of members must be from the country the band will represent. For bands without a clear majority, they will be able to represent the country in which the band is based.
    • In the case of duets, the duet can represent either country.
  • If the manager checks and finds that you’ve violated one of the rules, you’ll have one chance to change your song, if the song is not changed the player will be left out of that edition.
  • If you think you have an artist that doesn’t align with these rules yet has a strong enough connection to a country to represent it, please e-mail the hosts and explain the situation.

Song

  • Your-o-Vision will not allow songs:
    • That competed in Eurovision, JESC, or national finals.
    • That were released more than 10 years ago.
    • That have previously competed in YOV or cover of former YOV entries.
  • Covers are allowed but we want to encourage you to send original entries
  • Once you submit a song, you can change the song as long as it is before the deadline.
  • The song can be in any language

Voting

  • Votes will be collected with via e-mail, Facebook messenger or the voting form.
  • Do not publish your votes before the results are revealed.
  • In editions with semi-finals, players will be obligated to vote in the semi in which they participate. If they so wish, they can also vote in the other semi-final, where their votes will count as much as those who take part in that specific semi final. There is no Rest Jury
  • Ties will be broken according to official EBU rules.
  • If you win, you’re required to send the hosts the details (host city, hosts, and venue) for the next edition
  • Everyone is obliged to vote in the Final. Even if you didn’t qualify
  • If you do not vote in the contest’s Final, you’ll get one strike. If you get 2 or more strikes you will be «banned» from one edition and lose the right to play as your country.

 

 

Organization

  •  There is a limit of 55 players taking part.

Semi Final :

  • There will be a limit of 28 finalists. If the number of participants exceeds that, then semi-finals will be organized.

    • For editions with semi-finals, the previous winning player will automatically qualify for the final.

    • The number of Semi Finals depends on the total amount of players in each edition.

    • 0-10 players = no edition

    • 11-28 players = no semi finals

    • 29-41 =  2 Semi Finals, maximum of 20 songs in each Semi Finals. When there are 2 Semi Finals, the the top 10 will qualify from each Semi Finals.

    • 42- 55 = 3 Semi Finals, with a maximum of 18 songs in each Semi Finals.
